‘Parthan Kanta Paralokam’ has Jayaram and Mukesh teaming up after a gap.

Mix of fact and fiction: ‘Parthan Kanta Paralokam’ has Jayaram acting as an atheist and humanist.
A small, tiled house with unbaked mud walls, set against the backdrop of the Malampuzha dam and the beautiful mountain range bordering it, is abuzz with activities. Cinematographer Anandakkuttan is busy canning shots featuring Jayaram, Mukesh, S
obha Mohan and Sona for the Anil-directed ‘Parthan Kanta Paralokam.’
Complex relationship
“These shots have a direct bearing on the theme of the film. The storyline is centered on the complex relationship between Parthasarathy or Parthan (Jayaram) and Madhavan (Mukesh),” says Anil, whose earlier hits include ‘Pakalppooram.’
The film, based on a story by K.B. Raju, is being packaged as a complete entertainer with a lot of hilarious scenes from start to finish. “This is a film that caters to the audiences,” says Jayaram who is expecting ‘Parthan Kanta Paralokam’ to become a hit.
Jayaram is teaming up with Mukesh after a gap. The last film they did together was ‘Friends.’ Scripted by Rajan Kiriyat, the film presents Parthan as a non-compromising atheist and humanist who is always at war with the forces of injustice. He is also known as a person who has several miraculous escapes from death. How Parthan escapes death and other intricacies are wrapped up in suspense . Madhavan is a forceful presence in Parthan’s life.
Humour element
“The fantasy or humour element in the film is not expressed in realistic terms. The characters in the films, like in cartoons, over do it. Madhavan is a mythical character. And till the end, Parthan is confused regarding his friend’s identity. Even the village Krishnapuram is an imaginary land, though it bears the stamp of any part of the country. At the same time, the film conveys a strong message against issues such as communalism and terrorism in a lighter vein.”
Sobha Mohan plays Jayaram’s mother while Jagathy Sreekumar essays the role of Jayaram’s uncle. Sreedevika plays the leading lady.
The cast includes Jagathy Sreekumar, Kalabhavan Mani, Salim Kumar and Kottayam Naseer. Produced under the banner of Screen Entertainment Company, the film is slottedfor a Vishu release.
Shooting for the film, which started on December 9, is progressing at different locations in and around Palakkad. Executive producer is K.B. Shaji. Balu is the art director. Stills are by Shajil Obsecura and costumes by Arafat. M. Jayachandran has scored the music for the lyrics penned by Kaithapram.
