Engaging show of poetic drama

‘Srikrishna Rayabaram’ of Tirupathi Venkata Kavulu was staged recently.

Sri Sai Kalanikethan has been organising the staging of poetic-dramas every month for more than 13 years now. Its 162nd monthly schedule featured the popular play Srikrishna Raayabaaram of Tirupathi Venkata Kavulu. Staged in Kalab harati last Friday, it had an eight-year-old boy master Geetha Prasad, grandson of Nandi award winner BVA Naidu in the role of Srikrishna, in the first scene. It was where Arjuna and Duryodhana approached Krishna for His help in the Mahabharatha war. Then followed an act in which Lord Krishna (Br. Ch. Naidu) met Pandavas and their consort Draupadi to carry their message to the Kaurava king Dhritarashtra (Baggu Bhaskara Rao). . Finally, the staging of the play concluded with a court scene in which Krishna’s (Bagadi Vijayasaradhi) efforts to bring peace between the Kauravas and Pandavas fail.

B.A. Naidu as Yudhishtara and Karna, Dunna Jaggarao as Bhima and Drona, T. Dalinaidu as Nakula and Bhishma, Dhavala Mahesh as Sahadeva and Vikarna, I.S.N. Murty as Aswaddhama and Mrs. Vidyavathi as Draupadi portrayed the roles effectively.

Produced by Apparao, manager of the Niketan Choudary, it was directed by BVA Naidu. While Illa Apparao lent excellent support on harmonium, D. Saiprasad, UA Naidu, B. Bapunaidu, N. Simhadri and R.Kesavaraju shared credits for stage decoration, makeup and so on. President of the Niketan Ganta Appalanaidu and its chief advisor Datla Srihariraju along with the chief guest of the evening. A.S. Raja, felicitated Choudary Apparao on the occasion.
