Jandhyala
Film writer, director and actor late Jandhyala’s name is synonymous with clean and refined humour. The current crop of comedy stars like Rajendra Prasad, Bramhanandam, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Sutti Velu, Srilakshmi and others consider Jandhyala as their idol.
In his memory, the cultural association Abiruchi organised a one-day programme titled Jandhyala Hasyotsavam at V.H.Grandhalayam, Vijayawada. Marking the occasion, P. Subbaro, vice-president of Abhiruchi, distributed tailoring machines to deserving poor craftsmen.
Sutti Velu, a Jandhyala find and well known character actor spoke about late Jandhyala’s contribution to the film industry and said that he owed his success to Jandhyala. Maganti Subramanyam, proprietor of Mitra Agencies, Tondepu Hanumanta Rao and P. Krishnaji also paid tributes to Jandhyala. The function was followed by some good jokes rendered by Tondepu Hanumanta Rao, a prominent businessman and patron of arts.
The highlight of the programme was the play Trend Marindi written by Kasi Viswanath and directed by M. Satyanarayana. The play had a mix of comedy and sentiments and had Sutti Velu playing the main role. The played conveyed the message that friendship is greater than blood relationship convincingly.
