Dance recitals marked the 53rd anniversary of Visaka Dance Academy.

Teachers and students of Visaka Dance Academy presented a Bharatanatyam recital to mark the 53rd anniversary of the academy at Kalabharathi recently.
Starting with Alaripu-pushpanjali (Nata) followed by Sriganapathini (Sourashtra-Adi), Harshitha, Sabari, Rajitha, Nakshatra, Vaisakhi, Varsha, Srivaishnavi and Sowmosika individually and in groups presented a sabdham (Kambhoji-Misrachapu), Alarulukuriyaga (Sankarabharanam-Adi), a jathi swaram (Hamsanandi-Adi), Meera bhajan (Amrithavarshini-Roopakam), Ayyappa Sankeertana (Kambhoji-Adi), bhajan (Yaman-Roopakam), Gobbillapaata (Arabhi-Adi), Javali (Purvikalyani â Adi) and a thilana in Pharaz-Adi. Their teachers too presented dance numbers - Bho Sambho (Revathi-Adi) by Thirumala, – Tatwam (Natabhairavi-Misrachapu) by Sankar, bhajan (Yaman-Adi) by Radhika with Tirumala and Sankar and thilana by Radhika.
B. Varsha and Vaisakhi presented Meera bhajan with excellent expressions. The siblings attracted a standing ovation.
Vocals and nattuvangam by Lakshmi Mahanthi, principal of the dance school run by the academy, in the company of M. Neeladrirao on violin, M. Yedukondalu on mridangam, Mallesh on flute, Satyanarayana on veena and Dhananjai on tabla and make-up by Swathi Raghunath were good.
