SS Music celebrates International Women’s Day by airing an array of programmes.

Women Speak,’ March 8, 21.30, features six accomplished women-

Poet and politician Thamizhachi, actor and social activist Revathi, psychiatrist Dr. Shalini, filmmaker Leena Manimegalai, advocate Arul Mozhi and journalist Kavita, who discuss issues that affect women. It ranges from the kind of clothes women wear and the consequences thereof, whether the caveman sentiment still exists in men to how women are portrayed in cinema.

Join VJ Craig as he talks to these fiery women in this segment. The programme encores the next day at 12 Noon.‘In the Director’s Chair,’ March 8, 18.00, profiles the women who are wielding the megaphone and gets them to talk about their movies which are being scheduled to participate in the First Women’s Film Festival being held from March 1 to 8.

Join VJ Paloma as she chats with all these women directors on the show. The re-run will be at 16.30 on March 9.

Stay on for a lively chat with actor Nandita Das in ‘Voyage of Discovery,’ March 8, 19.45.

She touches upon a variety of issues and concerns right from her debut as a director and the challenges she had to take on to how she thinks women should perceive themselves.

Speaking about the women’s film festival in particular, the actress felt that the space was shrinking for small, independent films and the festival served as a good platform for the same. the show will be re-telecast the next day at 16.00.

In ‘Rendezvous with Marie Paul,’ the director of Alliance Francaise talks about the similarities and differences that exist between the women of her country and India. Tune in at 20.15.



‘Azhagai Irukkirai Bayamai Irukkiradhu’ (Vijay TV, 11 a.m.)

Vijay TV celebrates International Women’s day with a special line-up of programmes.

At 11 a.m. watch ‘Azhagaai Irukiraai Bayamai Irukiradu,’ the Tamil film starring Bharath, Mallika Kapur, Arun Vijay and Deepu.

At 2 p.m. get ready to learn special dishes in ‘Samayal Samayal,’ featuring Sneha Nambiar and Neelima Rani, who compete with each other to win the Modular Kitchen worth Rs.60,000.

Special guests for the show are Poornitha and Viji.

Stay tuned at 6 p.m. for ‘Nayakargalin Naayaki,’ a show in which celebrities such as Vivek, Narain, Prasanna, Sakthi and Sibi pay tribute to the special women who have made a big difference in their lives.

At 8 p.m. watch the special performances by the dancing pairs in ‘Garnier Fructis Vijay Jodi No.1.

At 9.30 p.m. is ‘Anu Alavum Bayam Illai,’ a fear factor reality show hosted by Anu Haasan, exclusively designed for film celebrities such as Lakshmi Rai, Monica and Priyanka.

A special contest is also planned for the viewers who need to answer simple questions asked in between the programmes. Correct entries will bag exciting prizes from Godrej Eon.
