Kudos for the efforts
In recognition of the promo, ‘love a girl child,’ the UNFPA-supported voluntary organisation, Mumbai-based Population First and Chennai-based Catalyst Trust presented the ‘Laadli’ awards in Chennai recently.
Ms.Poonkothai, Social Welfare Minister for Tamil Nadu, gave away the awards.
In the ‘Electronic media-Tamil’ category Makkal TV has been honoured with the ‘Laadli’ award for addressing various social, political and civic issues such as anti-dowry, anti-smoking, anti-alcoholism, cleanliness and particularly gender sensitivity.

This sequel to the first season is revamped to make it look more interesting. Actor Malavika will be joined by yesteryear actor Jyothilakshmi and choreographer Latha Mani as judges.
The show will have 12 solo dancers and 12 duo dancers from all over Tamil Nadu, who will fight to win the title, ‘Close-up Super Dancer.’
The viewers are also given a chance to select their favourite dancer through voting. They can send an SMS with the contestant’s number to the following numbers (depending on their mobile service provider)- BSNL-58580, Airtel, Aircel and Idea – 58585, Reliance and Vodafone – 55858.
Another new addition is ‘Meet and Greet with Malavika,’ a contest for those who have been selecting their favourite participants through SMS since the first episode.
Lucky winners, to be chosen through a draw, will get a chance to meet and dine with the actress.
Vanita Ratnam-2

The hunt for a Super Mom is back. ‘Vanita Ratnam-2’ is a hunt for a mother under the age of 40 who can juggle various aspects of their life – handling the family accounts, to playing chauffeur to the children to pursuing their hobbies such as singing, dancing or acting.
After various levels of auditions, 15 contestants have been shortlisted for the competition.
The contestants hail from various parts of the country and are from different walks of life.
The youngest contestant is only 22 while the oldest is 38 years.
The jury comprises actor Poornima and theatre-trainer Murali Menon.
The show will be anchored by actor Kishore Sathya.
