Are you ready for Ready?

M.L. NARASIMHAM

Sea, sun and sand and a sizzling number.

rollicking love story Genelia and Ram in ‘Ready’.

Rishikonda beach on the way to Bhimli is the spot for the shooting of Ready where a song is being picturised on the hero Ram and heroine Genelia. With the scorching sun on a mid-summer afternoon on the beach it is an unenviable situation for the actors and the unit members working to create a sizzling song sequence. Ram, Genelia and a group of dancers choreographed by Shankar place steps to Devi Sri Prasad’s tune as the lyric flows in a melody mixed fast beat — Om Namasthe Bolo… The actors, after each line is okayed take shelter under the umbrellas or retire to the cool comforts of the caravan only to return to the sands on the shore when the choreographer blows the whistle.

Ram happens to be an engineering student from Bellary. So the story starts in Bellary then moves to Hyderabad, Vizag, Araku and Chalakkudi in Kerala where a duet was shot. Ram hails from a joint family. In contrast Genelia lands all alone from the U.S. It is her arrival that sets the ball rolling for the rollicking love story. But the plot revolves around Ram. He fights his way (thanks to Peter Haynes) which thrills. The rest the producer says “watch it on the big screen!”

The focus shifts to the much successful Srinu Vytla. He seems to read the pulse of the audience right. There is a liberal dose of comedy in this action based family drama too. The second half is full of Brahmanandam’s gags. He is the one on which the film banks heavily apart from the lead actors. Nasser as Ram’s uncle has a crucial role too. Thanikella Bharani plays Ram’s father.

The unit is in celebratory mood not only for the setting of the sea breeze but also for completing the final song from the movie. They all have sweated for four days sporting brave and smiling faces. The film is slated for release in June. Watch it you will not feel a wee bit of strain on either Ram or Genelia or the group dancers for that matter.

That’s professionalism!
