Histrionics pulls the crowds to plays at Kalabharati.
|
Visakha Music and Dance Academy staged two short plays in its auditorium, Kalabharati. The first was Andamaina Endamaavi by noted playwright and writer Kasiviswanadh and the other was Yagnaphalam, which was scripted long ago by B. Krishnaiah.
The first play was directed by N. Pattabhiramarao for Nataraja Art Creations. It dealt with the craze among most parents to get their children, especially daughters, settle abroad. The dramatisation, including direction, were unconvincing. The interest of the audience was sustained mainly through the excellent histrionics exhibited by the actors individually and as a team. K. Vijayalakshmi as Madhavi and Jayalakshmi as Sindhuja were exemplary. B. A. Naidu, M. K. Nagabhushana Rao, P. Suryarao, E. Rambabu, N. C. Naidu and S. A. Swamiji also gave a commendable performance in their respective roles. Make-up by Apparao, lighting by N.V. Ramana and music by P. Raju provided the needed sheen.
The second play directed by I. Gangaraju outlined the theme that the fruits of success shoud be shared equally by everyone. Though the play has been staged umpteen times in the past, this was a creditable attempt. Chandrarao as Bakkodu, the director, who played the role of Badugodu, Swamiji as the symbol of power, M. K. N. Bhushanarao, A. Apparao and E.Rambabu put up a laudable act. Make-up by Bharani, set and lighting by Y. Sanjeevi, music by P.Raju and overall supervision by N. Ramarao were assets.
