Senior artistes were honoured at a programme recently

Artiste Shabad Janakiramulu.
Sangeeth Sanmaan, a programme of Hindustani instrumental music and felicitation function was organised recently by Music Lovers’ Association.
The event was held at the Kala Subba Rao mini auditorium of Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. The programme began with a Sarangi Solo by Sayeed-Ur-Rahman, an AIR artiste. He was accompanied on tabla by Hari Shankar Sharma, a disciple of ustad Nayeem Khan of Hyderabad.
Raag Sehara of Amir Khusro was presented by Sayeed-ur-Rahman, first in Madhya laya and Drut in Teen Taal.
He concluded the performance with a Mishra Dhun in Kehruva taal.
The programme continued with clarionet artiste Shabad Janakiramulu taking on to the stage. A self-taught artist, he was initiated into music by Master Mahanand.
He began his recital with raag Rageshri Vilambit set to Ek taal, drut to teen taal. Senior percussion artiste P. Murali lent support on table.
A dhun in Mishr Piloo was the concluding piece of the performance.
In the end, senior artistes Sayeed-ur-Rahman, A.R. Shanthi Kumar (sarod), Sampath Kumar Acharya (santoor), Shabad Janakiramulu and P. Madhusudhan (sitar, tabla, harmonium, key board) were also felicitated.
