Playback Singer

Yet another music-based reality show makes its bow on the tube. This one aims at spotting wannabe playback singers – male and female. The winner stands to win prizes and a chance to sing in films.

Forty-six participants have been shortlisted for the competitive rounds that will follow. These lucky contestants were selected from thousands of applicants who tried their luck during the auditions held at different places.

Music director Bijibal, playback singer Gayathri and lyricist Anil Panachooran will be on the panel of judges. Shibu Chakravarthy, associate programme director of Kairali TV, is the creative advisor of the show.

Many famous personalities, at the zenith of their careers, suddenly vanish into oblivion or, worse, get caught in a scandal that push them into the limelight for all the wrong reasons.

This programme turns the camera on those people who lived through the turmoil to make a new life for themselves. Fifty episodes of the programme have profiled a number of personalities, including politicians, sportspersons, artistes and so on.

Ramayana Maasam

Ramayanam month will be observed till August 16. Celebrities like M.G. Radhakrishnan, Kaithapram and Madhusudhanan Nair will read select portions from the Ramayana at 18.45 p.m. every day.

Malayalam cinema is replete with fire-spitting dialogues of heroes who are out to combat all kinds of evil. Some of those famous lines and one-liners have become part of our everyday vocabulary. This programme, presented by Kalabhavan Jinto, compiles some of those famous lines. It is being produced by Rajesh Mohan. A repeat of each episode will be telecast on Tuesdays at 12.30.
