Probal Gupta is performing a complete margam on stree vesham of Kathakali

Bangalore Lalitha Kala Parishath has organised a Kathakali performance by artiste Probal Gupta on July 18. He will present for the first time in India, a complete margam on stree vesham of Kathakali, conceived and researched under guru Fact Padmanabhan of Kerala.
Probal is a disciple of guru late Kalamandalam Govindan Kutty. He made his debut in 1998. Currently, he is taking advanced training in Kathakali under Fact Padmanabhan and K. Srikumar. Gupta has even trained in Mohiniattam under veteran Mohiniattam exponent Bharati Shivaji. In the past, Gupta has choreographed “Ritu Ranga” based on Rabindranath Tagore’s work in Kathakali idiom. He is the founder and artistic director of Centre for Kathakali art in Koramangala, Bangalore. Kathakali is one of the oldest theatre forms in the world which originated in Kerala.
