The Monsoon Festival is back



MUSIC MAGIC Pt. Shivkumar Sharma will render rain ragas

Banyan Tree Events’ National Monsoon Music Festival is scheduled for July 27 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall at 6 p.m. The fest, titled Barkha Ritu, will feature stalwarts from Hindustani classical music like Devaki Pandit (vocal) and Pt. Shivkumar Sharma (santoor). The Barkha Ritu fest was conceived and presented by Banyan Tree Events for the first time in 2003 in Mumbai with the intention to take a few moments to revel and experience the beauty of the monsoons through the rich bounty of Indian Classical music. This is the sixth Barkha Ritu fest, held in Bangalore.

After receiving overwhelming responses and spectacular success in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Poona and Hyderabad , Banyan Tree will present the biggest all India monsoon music festival “Barkha Ritu - Celebrate Rains Celebrate Life...2008” that will feature a combination of upcoming maestros and today’s legends in the field of Indian Classical music.
