Young talent Dancers impressed with their abhinaya
Uttara, Center for performing Arts, presented a programme last week at Ravindra Bharati as part of its ninth anniversary. The show, divided into two sessions featured Bharatanatyam dances and a flute recital.Twenty youngsters presented their musical talent under the watchful eyes of their gurus flautist Jayaprada Ramamurthy and Geetha Ganesan.
Both the gurus were seen conducting the performances of their disciples with utmost discipline. Geetha Ganesan also provided vocal support, while conducting the show with an impressive Nattuvangam. Flute recital was conducted and directed by Jayaprada Ramamurthy. The numbers figured in this group show included the invocation Mahaganapatim in Naata of Muthuswami Dikshitar.
The Pallavi line Kumara Gurupara Sadashivatmaja Saravana Bhava Guhane was in praise of Lord Subrahmanya. This was composed by Jayaprada and her senior students played it in unison.
The Pallavi was in Trikala Tisram. The Tanam and swaraprasthra were elaborate too. Bho Shambho in Revati of Dayananda Saraswathi was the concluding number. Raju, Maitreyi, Krishna, Sumanth, Akshay, Akhilesh, Sanjay and others took part.
Flute recital .
The dances were choreographed and conducted by Geetha.
The brief repertoire comprised of Pushpanjali, Devi slokam, Alarippu, besides the most sought after Padavarnam Nannu Brova Intha Taamasama in Ragamalika, Adi Talam. The Varnam and music was provided by Jayaprada. The varnam is a devotional, attributeto Lord Venkateshwara and his glory. Amma Yashodamma Vinavamma, a ragamalika and talamalika presentation were also figured. Music to this extensive number was composed by Jayaprada and many young dancers featured in different roles like Sri Krishna Leelalu. Suvarchala, Gitakrishna, Rishika, Priyanka, Shrikari, Amruta, Sneha and others presented these dance numbers. The organisation felicitated senior musicians –mridanga vidwans B.Gopalakrishna and K.Subrahmanyam, violinists B.S.Narayanan and T.Subba Lakshmi.
