Dance fest

Ananya will have a classical dance festival for young talents

PLATFORM Surya Narayana Rao and Pavitra Reddy will be part of the festival

Ananya, GML Cultural Academy - a non-profit organisation that aims at propagating Indian art, is organising Nrithya Dhare-3 for the third consecutive year. The event, a project of Ananya, is a classical dance festival “organised to encourage young upcoming talents of the State”.

It also provides a platform to exhibit different styles of classical dances, say the organisers. Nrithya Dhare will have solo performances by six artists, who will perform in the presence of their teachers, on September 6 and 7. The venue is Seva Sadan, 14th Cross, Malleswaram, 6.30 p.m. onwards.

On September 6, the festival begins with a Bharatanatya recital by Kirti Ramgopal, a student of Padmini Ramachandran. This will be followed by Mohiniattam by Anitha Peter, a student of Sreedevi Unni and will conclude with a Kuchipudi recital by Surya Narayana Rao, a student of Veena Murthy Vijay.

On September 7, there will be an Odissi recital by Pavithra Reddy, a student of Bijayini Sathapathi and Surupa Sen, followed by a Bharatanatya performance by a Sandhya Kiran and Kiran Subramanium’s student Parshwanath Upadhye. The evening will conclude with a performance by Ponnamma Devaiah, a disciple of Maya Rao.
