GANDHINAGAR GOSSIP

Flowering in the Kannada land

National award winning actress Meera Jasmine’s career is expanding in the Kannada film industry. By refusing to act in Malayalam film “Twenty 20” made by the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists, Meera is facing an unofficial ban and her career has gone totally downhill in Malayalam films.

But this talented artist who has won many awards for her performance in films has been making waves in Kannada and Telugu films by choosing some of the best projects in the industry. Meera Jasmine has just finished her work for the Kannada film “Ijjodu” produced by Reliance Adlabs Company and directed by M.S. Sathyu. The film was shot completely in Hassan. Anirudhdh is playing the lead in this film.

Meera will also be facing the camera for another Kannada film “Lagori” with Puneet Raj Kumar with whom she had acted earlier in “Mourya” and “Arrasu”.

And Meera will be working in another Kannada film “Devaru Kotta Thangi” directed by Sai Prakash. She will play Shivaraj Kumar’s sister’s role in the film.

Happy Birthday

Vishnuvardhan, Upendra and Shruthi celebrated their birthdays on Thursday.

Vishnu’s birthday celebrations were held a day earlier in Kunigal in front of a mammoth gathering of his fans who had assembled from all over the State.

Upendra’s fans who have been disappointed with the delay in the release of his much awaited film “Budhdhivantha” were in joyous mood on his birthday. “Budhdhivantha” is releasing on September 26.

The actor took a break from the shooting of his new film produced by Shylendra Babu and directed by Naganna.

Involved historically

Every thing is going right for actor Sudeep these days. The actor is busy directing his new film “Veera Madakari” for producer Dinesh Gandhi.

Sudeep is playing two roles in this film for the first time and Raagini, the Bangalore-based model cum actress has been selected to play the lead role in this film.

Sudeep has been so involved with “Veera Madakari” that he has not been participating in discussions of the other new projects he has signed. Sudeep’s first Hindi film “Phoonk” directed by Ramgopal Varma has been declared a big hit by the industry and the actor has been getting good offers from some Bollywood producers . Another gratifying news for Sudeep is that Varma is all set to start a sequel of “Phoonk” shortly.

Sudeep is reported to have a larger role in that film.

More roles

Actress Ramya who is known as Divya Spandana in the Tamil film industry has completed her dubbing for the Tamil film “Vaaranam Aayiram” directed by Gautham Menon. She has signed two new Kannada films – “Jothegaara” and “Ullasa”. “I have a pivotal role in the film ‘Jothegaara’,” which centres around my character’ says Ramya. Ramya had earlier acted in a few Tamil films like “Kuthu” with Silambarasan, “Giri” with Arjun, “Thoondil” with Shyam and “Pollaadhavan” opposite Dhanush.
