A homecoming tale

Thilakan plays the protagonist in ‘Orkkuka Vallapozhum.’

In the lead: Thespian Thilakan in ‘Orkkuka Vallapozhum.’

After a long gap, veteran actor Thilakan enacts the lead role in a new movie ‘Orkkuka Vallapozhum.’

Directed and scripted by debutant Sohanlal, the movie tells the story of Sethumadhavan (Thilakan), who had to flee from home on the day of India’s independence only to return 60 years later.

Narration

Sohanlal, better known as the scriptwriter for television movies such as ‘Pedakam,’ ‘Gurusaagarateerae’ and ‘Neermathalathinte Pookkal,’ narrates the story of Sethumadhavan’s return, through the eyes of Kasi (Jagadish), a rather unsavoury character who is an overseer in a mansion. Debutante Dubai-based actor Shilpabala who enacts a double role, is the heroine. She dons the role of Paru, who lived in the 1940’s and also of Devayani, who lives in the present day and is a helper of sorts to Sethumadhavan.

Rejith Menon (of ‘Goal’ fame) and Baby Malavika (of ‘Karuthapakshikal’ fame) play significant roles as do Meera Vasudevan, Krishnachandran and Bindu Varapuzha.

The movie, currently in the post-production stage, is produced by Vinu Y.S under the banner of God’s Own Movies.

Cinematography is by M.J. Radhakrishnan. M. Jayachandran has tuned the lyrics of P. Bhaskaran and Gireesh Puthenchery.
