Yagnavalkya jayanthi

Yagnavalkya was the celebrated Vedic seer, whose spiritual discussions on the Brhadarnayaka Upanishad inspired the likes of Sankara and Ramanuja. The Suklayajurvedins of Chennai celebrate his birthday every year. This year, a week-long celebration is scheduled at the Yagnavalkya Sabha, 28, Perumal Koil Street, Old Pallavaram. M. S. Jayanth, chief operations manager, Southern Railway, will confer titles to Vedic scholars on November 16, 11 a.m.

R. Thiagarajan, president of the Sabha, will inaugurate the Yagnavalkya Research Centre. For details, contact 9840316797.
