Plays ahead

Catch some plays this weekend


Hanumanthnagar Bimba will present Kanasinaata on January 2, 7 p.m. at Ravindra Kalakshetra. This play, directed by A.M. Prakash, is the result of a six-month workshop at Bimba, in which about 70 children will take part.

The chief guests are Director of Kannada and Culture, Manu Baligar, writer Baraguru Ramchandrappa, and music director V. Manohar.

Jana Samskriti has been actively staging plays across the State since 2002. They have even travelled to Maharshtra and Orissa. They have so far performed “Edegaarike”, “Bicycle Thieves”, “Gunamukha” and others.

They will perform “Agni Matty Maley” by Girish Karnad, directed by C. Basavalingiah on January 1, Rangashankara, 7.30 p.m. On January 3 and 4, they will perform Girish Karnad’s “Hoovu”, directed by C. Basavalingiah, which will also be staged at Rangashankara.
