Sanket’s new play
Naa Tukaram Alla” is Sanket’s new play, opening on Jan 27. This play at Ranga Shankara will have a run of seven shows at a stretch.
The play, written and directed by S. Surendranath, has Yenagi Natraj, B. Suresha, Sihikahi Chandru, Balaji Manohar, Megha Dixit, and Medha Nadiger acting in it. Praveen Godkhindi has composed music and Shashidhar Adapa has designed the sets.
“Naa Tukaram Alla” based on Herb Gardener’s “I am not Rappoport”, showcases Surendranath’s uncanny aptitude at adaptation. What the audiences are presented with is a bouquet of flowers – colourful, fragrant, wild, unusual, and an occasional (intentional) thorn! While the play is extremely funny as you watch it, the seriousness of it will sink in gradually. Sanket, started by Arundhati and Shankar Nag along with a motley group of theatre enthusiasts – S. Surendranath, Ramesh Bhatt, Sundashri, Jagdish Malnad and others has given several hit plays in Kannada – “Nagamandala” and “Anju Mallige” (Girish Karnad), “Hasirele Hannele”, “Nodi Swamy Naavirode Heege”, “Ondu Aakasmika Saavu”, “Iti Ninna Amrita”, “Hulagoora Huliyavva” and many others.
