To nab a culprit

VIJAY GEORGE

‘Robin Hood,’ directed by Joshiy, is about a bank robbery and the investigation to apprehend the robbers.

Crafting a thriller: ‘Robin Hood’ has Prithviraj, Bhavana and Narain in the lead.

The camera starts whirring as the door to an apartment in Thammanam, Kochi, opens and actor Narain enters. It is the location of director Joshiy’s new venture ‘Robin Hood.’ Prithviraj, Narain and Bhavana play the lead in the film. < /p>

“It is an investigation story, with friendship and romance as the backdrop,” says the scenarist duo Sachi and Sethu, who had scripted the hit film ‘Chocolate.’

About the story

“The story begins with crores of rupees being stolen from the ATM counter of a new generation bank. The theft has been professionally executed with no traces left behind. After the cops fail to make headway into the investigations, the bank appoints an investigator of their own to nab the culprit. The story takes some interesting turns from then on,” say the duo. “I’ve just joined the shooting here,” smiles Prithviraj who is deep in a discussion with the director. He plays Venkitesh, an IIT Engineering graduate who is employed as a physics teacher at a local entrance coaching centre. His dream is to work in the United States. Venkitesh stays in an apartment just opposite to the one where bank officer Roopa (Bhavana) and the investigating officer Alexander Felix (Narain) live. Soon the three become close friends. Their friendship is often mistaken for a romantic relationship and the film moves ahead on this premise.

The scene that is being canned has Narain entering the apartment and the chef-cum-caretaker, played by comedian Jaffer Idukki, opening the door for him. Cinematographer Shaji and the director are in the midst of a discussion regarding the shot. Once the arrangements are finalised, Joshiy gives some quick tips to the actors. Narain sports an unkempt look with a stubble and uncombed hair. He says: “My character Alexander Felix, is an eccentric and is laidback in nature. Nevertheless, he has a sharp mind and prefers to do his job in his own unconventional style. The scene now being shot has him coming to the apartment for the first time.”

The apartment has been provided by the bank and he and the chef are always at loggerheads.

Bhavana says: “Though I have been shooting for this film for the past few days, all I am supposed to say about my character is that she is a bank officer and quite bold too.”

‘Robin Hood’ is being produced under the banner of Anantha Vision. Lyrics by Kaithapram have been set to tune by M. Jayachandran. Still photographer is Rajesh.
