Dr. S. Ramanathan presented a concert on May 18, 1963, which focussed on Tyagaraja’s utsava sampradaya kritis including ‘Pavvalimpu’, ‘Koluvaiyunnade’, ‘’Melukovayya’ and ‘Hecharikegarara’. This album is a live recording of that memorable concert. The vocalist is accompanied by Alandur S. Natarajan on the violin and Nagoor T. S. Ambi Iyer on the mridangam.

The album features seven kritis by up and coming vocalist Nivedita, who a disciple of K. N. Shashikiran. She is accompanied by Karaikal Venkatasubramaniam on violin and Chromepet G. Suresh on mridangam. Some of the ragas chosen are Gowrimanohari, Chamaram, Saurashtram and Kavadi Chindu.

2010 marks the centenary of the legendary G.N. Balasubramaniam. To commemorate the event, a four-CD album featuring a live concert that GNB presented in 1958 has been released. The accompanying artists are Lalgudi Jayaraman on the violin and Palani M. Subramania Pillai on the mridangam. Truly a collector’s item!
