Young and promising Lakshmi Prachotan.
A two-day young artistes’ festival of music was organised by Visakha Music Academyat Kalabharathi. The inaugural concert of 90 minutes, by Lakshmi Prachotan (10 yrs) from Hyderabad, turned out to be a show of talent that deserved special mentio
n. Starting with Panchamatanga Mukha (Malahari), he held everyone in a thrall. The way he expansively elaborated Appa Rama Bhakthi (Pantuvarali), Enduku Peddala (Sankarabharanam) and rendered ragam thanam pallavi in Todi, all like a profound professional. Connoisseurs could make out that all of it was reproduced rendering of revered greats like Balamurali. That he has an inherent flair coupled with predilection for Carnatic music and precognition also gets established. Initiated to music under the tutelage of his mother Sirisha, a postgraduate in music (AU), he is now being taught by Raghavachari (who constitutes vocalist duo, Hyderabad brothers along with his brother Seshachari) for the last two years. He was admirably supported on violin by M. Sriramya and on mridangam by K. Aravind (10 yrs).
