Tribute to MLV

Dr. MLV Rasikar Manram is celebrating the legend’s 80th birth anniversary, on July 3 and 4 at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore.
On July 3, 5.45 p.m., N. Murali, MD, The Hindu, and president, The Music Academy, will inaugurate the function. R. Krishnaswamy, president, Federation of Sabhas, and M. Murali, Sri Krishna Sweets, will participate and speak on the occasion. At 7 p.m., A. Kanyakumari, Embar Kannan and V. Sanjeev will present a violin concert.
On July 4, 4 p.m., Shobana Ramesh will present ‘Aadal Kaaneero,’ a dance programme of film songs sung by MLV. At 6.15 p.m., Sudha Ragunathan will present ‘Maiden of Spring,’ a 20-minute video programme on MLV. “It will be a curtain raiser to the documentary that I’m preparing on my guru,” says Sudha. The film that will touch the highpoints of MLV’s career will have sound bites from people associated with her music. The DVD will be released on October 31, her death anniversary. “It will be visually grand, the pictures speaking poetry,” the disciple promises.
Following the video presentation, Sudha will present a concert. M. Kanimozhi, MP, R. Seshasayee, MD, Ashok Leyland, and Madurai T. N. Seshagopalan will participate and speak on the occasion.
