Breathless excitement, silly laughs - G-Force

SMILE ALL THE WAY:G-Force

Review

Genre: Animation Director: Hoyt Yeatman Cast: Sam Rockwell, Tracy Morgan, Penelope Cruz, Nicolas Cage, Jon Favreau, Bill Nighy Storyline: A specially trained squad of guinea pigs is dispatched to stop a diabolical billionaire from taking over the world Bottomline: May the force be with you

Bright and busy with brilliant wall-to-wall action, `G-Force' is big budget badshah, Jerry Bruckheimer's answer to the family film. The story is sweet and funny - who would not smile at superspy hamsters saving the world from a megalomaniac household appliance manufacturer who wants to rule the world by getting toasters and microwave ovens to listen to him?

CGI and action

`G-Force' is a seamless marriage of live action and CGI. The voice cast is pretty solid with two Oscar winners: Penelope Cruz as the sexy martial arts pro Juarez and Nicolas Cage as star-nosed mole Speckles, the geek of the gang.

The plot is pretty thin. There is electronics magnate Saber, who is doing dastardly deeds.

Under the FBI surveillance for two years, it is up to Ben and his four genetically- engineered guinea pigs, the G-Force, to unravel the plot and save the world.

The four guinea pigs, led by pugnacious Darwin and helped by a fly (who is the `eye' of the team), go ahead and do just that in fizzy, dizzy style.

There is also a ferret who claims not to be a ferret, three silly mice and a plump hamster to provide some more laughs.

At 89 minutes, `G-Force' provides eye candy, with the right mix of breathless excitement, multi-hued delights and silly laughs.
