Thrilling concert by trio

The Malladi trio gave a soulful concert marking the 75th Jayanthi of Jayendra Saraswathi Swami.

Marking the 75th Jayanthi of Jayendra Saraswathi Swamy of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, the reputed Malladi trio — father Malladi Suribabu and sons Sriram Prasad and Ravikumar presented a vocal concert at Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peethastha Chandramouliswara Swamy Devasthanam situated in Labbipet, Vijayawada.


The trio started the concert with Gajananayutham Ganeswaram in Chakravakam and followed it with Parameswara in Nata and Kanjadalayakshi in Kamala Manohari. Next, Sriram Prasad delineated in a detailed and attractive manner, the raga Anandabhairavi and the trio sang Syama Sastri’s Marivere gati concluding it with efficient kalpana swaras. Bhava laden and melodious passages found place in Pantuvarali in which father and sons rendered Siva Siva Siva Yanarada. Also good kalpana swaras adorned the keertana. In Kokilaravam, a rare raga, Malladis sang Kodanda Rama. Ravi Kumar sang a sumptuous version of Sankarabharanam in which the trio rendered Akshaya Linga Vibho with great bhava sense and crisp swara kalpana. Faithful and melodious support was given by Palaparthi Nageswara Rao, a seasoned violinist. N.S. Kalyanaraman and I. Anjaneya Sastri provided excellent support on the mridangam and ghatam respectively. Their tani was thrilling.
