Nutshell

A special invitation

Ananda Shankar Jayant has been invited to be one of the 50 speakers at the ongoing TED India conference (November 4-7) at the Infosys campus in Mysore.

The invitation assumed significance as the conference is being held for the first time in India.

“It has been called as a ‘mind spa’ where people from different walks of life bring across their point of view. Even attendees are hand-picked so it’s quite an honour to be in such an August gathering,” says Ananda. Director Shekar Kapur, minister Sashi Tharoor, commentator Harsha Bhogle, danseuse Mallika Sarabhai are some of the speakers to take part in the conference.

Besides Ananda, anti-trafficking crusader Sunitha Krishnan from the city has also been invited to speak.

The four-day conference will see Ananda speak on the last session called ‘Power of Stories’ on November 6.
