Vidwan T.K. Govinda Rao turned 81 recently and to offer their salutations to the musician who has been serving the field of Carnatic music for 65 years, TKG Gurukulam and Naada Inbam organised a programme on November 1.
A CD ‘Varnamanjari’ comprising eight varnams composed by TKG and sung by students of TKG Gurukulam, was released on the occasion by N. Murali, president, The Music Academy, and Managing Director, The Hindu. The first copy was received by flute maestro N. Ramani.
