Tamizh Isai Festival

Sri Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha, Vanimahal, T.Nagar, is organising its first exclusive Tamizh Isai Festival, which will showcase songs with classical music as the base, between March 26 and 30.

The concerts will include both early composers such as ‘Sirkazhi Moovar' and hymns from Thevaram and Prabhandham, and contemporary composers of a later period, such as Gopalakrishna Bharati, Oothukadu Venkata Kavi, Koteeswara Iyer, Mazhavai Chidambara Bharati, Vedanayakam Pillai, Bharatiar, Mayuram Viswanatha Sastri, Yogi Suddhananda Bharati and Namakkal Kavignar.

The festival concludes on March 30 with a dance (group) presentation on the story woven around Poompuhar and ‘Silappadhikaram.'

Senior musicians participate and present only Tamil compositions.
