Scoring with Help
It appears to be raining honours on the Tamil short film arena. This week actor–writer–director R. Pandiarajan's ‘Help,' whose running time is 11 minutes, has been selected for screening on May 20, at the ArtDeco Film Festival 2011, at Sao Paulo, in Brazil. ‘Help' is Pandiarajan's first short film in English. The creator, who is slowly but steadily carving a niche for himself in the world of shorts, is elated with the inclusion of his film, ‘Help,' in the Digital Capture category.
“Among the 55-odd films that have made it to ArtDeco from all over the world, ‘Help' is the only film from Asia,” he says. “I've taken up social awareness on an international issue as the theme.”
‘Delhi' Ganesh, Mohanram, Devipriya and Kishore comprise the cast. Pandiarajan is its writer and director, and Srikanth Deva, its composer. Ashok Rajan has cranked the camera. “Lenin, the short's editor, was very pleased with the product,” Pandiarajan says cheerfully. The exuberance is natural because ‘Help' is in the fray competing for Best short film, direction, screenplay, acting (male and female) and the audience's favourite film!
