Maharashtra Mandal Bangalore presents Anand Bhate live in concert as part of the Sujata Soor Smaran Concert Series. Sujata Soor Smaran is a series of annual concerts started in 2007 in memory of the late Sujata Tambe.
Pandit Anand Bhate, a disciple of the late Pandit Bhimsen Joshi started his career as a child prodigy singing Marathi stage music in the style of the legendary Bal Gandharva. His natural talent commanded attention and before long he was giving regular performances on AIR, Doordarshan, and at various venues across the country.
In 1988, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi accepted him as a disciple. Since then he has gone on to become one of the most prominent young musicians of the Kirana gharana. Apart from Khayal rendering he has mastered semi-classical formats and the Marathi Natya Sangeet and Abhang.
Anand Bhate will be accompanied by Ravindra Katoti on harmonium and Udayraj Karpur on tabla. The concert will be held at the Maharashtra Mandal Auditorium, 2nd Cross, Gandhinagar, Bangalore, on May 22 from 6 p.m. onwards.
