Lecture series
Natyasruti presents its Multimedia Lecture Series on June 25, July 2, 3 and 9. Four eminent personalities — Vikram Sampath, Pradeep Chakravarthy, Chithra Madhavan and V. Sriram — will speak on different topics of historical significance.
On June 25, Vikram Sampath, author of two widely-acclaimed books, “Splendours of Royal Mysore: the untold story of the Wodeyars' and “My name is Gauhar Jaan! — the life and times of a musician”, will lecture on ‘The Lords of 33 Villages' - Mysore under the Wodeyars (1399-1950). On July 2, Pradeep Chakravarthy, author of “Thanjavur—A cultural history”, will speak on “Sarasvati Mahal — India's best kept secret”. The core of the Sarasvati Mahal library in Thanjavur dates from the 16th century and houses a diverse collection of works on different subjects, including philosophy, music, dance, drama and literature. On July 3, Chithra Madhavan, an archaeologist and historian and author of five books, including the “History and Culture of Tamil Nadu”, will speak on “Chidambaram -- Its History, Art and Architecture”. On July 9, V. Sriram, a well-known speaker from Chennai and author of “Carnatic Summer”, will speak on “Maha Vaidyanatha Sivan-his life and times”. Maha Vaidyanatha Sivan was a composer of Carnatic music in the 19 {+t} {+h} Century. All the lectures will be held at The Indian Heritage Academy Hall, Koramangala at 6 p.m.
