BJP briefs whips on trust vote
New Delhi (PTI): With the Lok Sabha set to convene for the trust vote on July 21, the main opposition BJP spent the day on Saturday "briefing" its flock on the do's and don'ts during the crucial session.
Senior party leader and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, L K Advani met former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee this evening and "briefed him about the current political situation and the party's stand," a close aide of Advani said.
Earlier in the day, the whips of the party in Lok Sabha met here and were briefed on ensuring the attendance of every member in the House during the debate.
"All the 20 whips of the party met here today. They were briefed about the special session and the strategy for the trust vote. They were asked to ensure cent per cent attendance," party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters here.
Each whip has been given a bunch of six to 10 MPs and has been made responsible for their attendance and voting, he added.
"Doctors have been consulted and arrangements are being made to bring in our MPs who are ailing and under treatment," Javadekar said.
