Rajni fans to celebrate release of 'Sivaji'

Mumbai, June. 14 (PTI): Scores of star-struck fans of superstar Rajnikant in this city will celebrate the release of his new film "Sivaji -- The Boss" with processions and pujas.

Rajnikant fan clubs from across the city will gather at Dharavi in central Mumbai and bring the film's print in a procession from there to Ram Mandir in Matunga early tomorrow and perform puja, fan clubs' chief S Nityanand told PTI.

The fans will perform 'abhishekam' (pouring milk) on cut- outs of Rajnikant at Arora theatre in Matunga and distribute sweets and caps before the first show at 8 am, he said.

The fans have spent over Rs 1 lakh for the celebrations, he said.

Nambi Raju, the film's sole distributor for north India, said the movie will be screened in 20 theatres in the region and in eight theatres in Mumbai.

"The response is tremendous and we are expecting several celebrities to watch the movie tomorrow," he said.

Nityanand said huge electronic cut-outs of the star, measuring 20 ft by 15 ft and 30 ft by 15 ft, have been put up and the theatre has been given a fort-like look.

Tickets for the film, which has Rajnikant as its hero and A R Rahman as music director, have been sold out for 20 days in theatres in south India, Raju said.
