Musical journey

Ghazala enthrals the crowd at Shila Kala Vedika.

CORPORATES COMING up with star nites to popularise concepts and brands has become quite common these days. And so, it was over to the Visu Group of Companies and the Hindustan Lever to put together a cultural event. The scene was picture perfect at Shilpa Kala Vedika.

There was lots of glamour and enough entertainment to capture the attention of the audience. The performance of flautist, Nagaraj, was a treat to the ears. He played the lilting song, `Anjali, Anjali... ' from `Duet' film and the racy `Nelluri nerajana' from `Oke Okkadu.' Despite the accompaniment putting up a good show, it was his flute that stood apart, in the show compered by Shila Chakravarthy and Simha.

Artiste, Siva Reddy, kept the audience engaged with his mimicry items. Gayatri Rao sang the number, `Tuniga, tuniga,' and prominent writer, `Sirivennela' Seetharama Sastry surprised the audience when he sang `Eppudu oppukovoddura votami... ' There was a skating performance, too, by Manasa from Visakhapatnam.

But it was the presence of film stars -- Ghazala and Namita -- that contributed to the glamour element. They danced to filmi numbers and made the film lovers dance to their tunes as well.

It was a lyrical and musical journey for the audience.
