Donning a new role
The former actress, Unnimary, has now taken up a new role: that of an evangelist. She was inspired to take to the spiritual path after attending a camp at the Divine Centre at Potta, near Chalakudi.
``I find my new role interesting as well as mentally satisfying. Many people come to attend the gospel meetings with the aim of seeing me in person. Some discuss their family problems with me for which I give solutions that come to my mind,'' she says.
Starting her career as a child artiste in `Devi Kanyakumari', she later took to films seriously after her role in the film `Ashtami Rohini' with the evergreen Prem Nazir. A much-sought-after Malayalam actress during the 1970's and 80's, Unnimary slowly moved on to film production and her first production was `Ladies Tailor'. However, she quit the field as she did not make much of an impact as a producer.
Were there any plans to come back to the film world? The answer was firmly in the negative. ``I have not even seen a film during the past four years. My job as an evangelist needs a lot of hard work,'' she points out.
Unnimary plans to attend a gospel meeting in the city in the second week of May.
