Bobby Deol back for a crack at `Kismet'

THE LULL before the storm is what they are calling it. Never mind if no one quite noticed Bobby Deol's absence from the big screen for the whole of last year, the actor is finally ready to open his account at the box office once again.

And while his film "Kismat" will eventually see if lady luck does smile on the actor and his career, Bobby himself is rather thrilled about the film which he describes as a commercial, fast paced action flick that will be a "paisa vasool" for the audience.

To be directed by Guddu Dhanoa, who earlier made "Bicchhoo" and "Shaheed - 23 March, 1931" with Bobby Deol, "Kismat" will see the actor paired with Priyanka Chopra for the first time.

"I play a `tapori' character in the film who is aimless in life. He does all kinds of illegal jobs for money, and the film is about how his life changes when he takes money to complete one such task. The most interesting thing about the film is the fact that I have never done such a role before. Also the film's pace is very fast with the story never slowing down during the entire period," reveals Bobby.

He may be yet to achieve the kind of ardent fan following that his elder brother has, but working with Dhanoa - known for the action in his films - is sure to make a difference. "Guddu is a close family relative and we have a good tuning which obviously makes working together very easy. He lays a lot of stress on action and the audiences like his films for that. But then, the good thing about his films is that they also have a strong storyline. "Kismat has great action, but also an interesting storyline," claims Bobby.

To be seen for the first time with Priyanka Chopra, who incidentally made her debut in Sunny Deol's "The Hero" , Bobby describes his leading lady of this film as `brilliant'. For the former Miss World, working in hero-oriented action flicks is clearly not a thing to be afraid of. "I have a very emotional role in the film. It may be action-oriented, but I have a significant part to play in the movie and it is because of this character that there are some twists in the story," the actress said.

As for working with the two brothers, she points out: "Nature-wise they are quite different. While Sunny is reserved, Bobby is a happy go lucky guy who is always making people laugh on the sets. The one thing common about them is their dedication towards work, and hard work."

It may be Bobby Deol's first project with Time Films, but with the banner giving Priyanka the perfect launch pad in "The Hero" her second attempt has been just as good. "My experience with them was so good the first time around that I immediately said yes for `Kismat'. My work was much appreciated in `The Hero' and I am hoping that it will be the same this time too."

With the production company promising a new look and get up of Bobby Deol with his first film in over twelve months, there is much to look forward to for his fans from "Kismat".

But whether it manages to change the destiny of its cast is something that only the coming weeks will show.
