E-shopping adds to Valentine Day rush

DELHI IS all set to celebrate Valentine's Day this Saturday. From shopping malls, television channels and cinema theatres to cards and flower shops and hotels, big and small, all seem excited and well equipped to handle the V-Day rush.

Why, even the e-shopping networks are working overtime. And to cope with the extra rush, e-shoppers has started a separate website for Valentine's Day, where customers can choose to buy from a wide range of products and baskets, ranging from Rs. 99 to Rs. 999. The products comprise flowers, cakes or combo which can be delivered to your Valentine's doorstep. One can also order from e-shoppers Valentine sites, where you can buy perfumes, teddy bears, chocolate, watches and even get free Valentine e-cards.

For those who will be at home on Valentine's Day, MTV presents "Valentine's Pe Santana Ki Bajao", a contest which gives you the chance to sing to your Valentine `I love you too much' or `Samba Pati' with Carlos Santana's personally autographed guitar.

To enter the contest, all you have to do is to log on to www.mtvindia.com and enter the `Valentine's Pe Santana ki Bajao' contest and tell MTV about which new album by Santana you would gift this season.

But that isn't all that MTV is offering. Giving you a chance to wrap yourselves in the spirit of true love is MTV Valentine's Day special programme featuring the cast of the film `Lakeer'. This star-studded programme will feature Sunil Shetty, John Abraham, Sunny Deol, Sohail Khan and Nauheed Cyrusi who will discuss interesting anecdotes on love, films and life and the programme will be telecast on MTV on February 14 at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Also Canon, a leading digital imaging company, ushers in the festive spirit of the Valentine's Day with its Heart2Heart promotional contest at 72 Barista outlets across the country. The contest will make consumers at Barista eligible for a lucky draw.

Claiming to provide more than just a delicious meal, restaurants promise to make the day a treat for the family and loved ones. Mashrabiya, the Lebanese restaurant at Hotel Ashok, offers a special four-course meal, put together by Chef Ratib Al Ghriwti, from Burj al-Arab, Dubai. The meal is priced at Rs. 4,000 per couple, inclusive of taxes, including unlimited Champagne. Also indulge your taste buds with special snacks at Steel, the bar at Hotel Ashok, which will also have a special DJ.

InterContinental, Parkroyal at Nehru Place is offering an exciting lunch and dinner festival till February 15. You could indulge in a special heart shaped Valentine chocolates and pick from specialty pralines including nougat mocha, walnut and caramel and coconut bounty.

Or celebrate the sweetness of Valentine with goodies from Hyatt Regency, where customers are invited to check out the treats, which promises to be a feast to the eyes and taste buds. Chose from their pastries, chocolates and heart shaped cakes; select from offerings or just create a hamper of your liking.
