Chance encounter

It must have been a coincidence of sorts for Sarah Jane John, an eighth standard student of Gregorian Public School, Kochi. She was on a visit to her family estate in Dhoni, Palakkad, and was happily clicking photographs on her digital camera, when she caught something resembling a meteor on her camera.

"We did not know what was in store, until we viewed the pictures on our personal computer. On taking a closer look at one the pictures, we knew that Sarah had caught something unusual on camera; something that resembles a meteor. Our estate is located close to a reserve forest. Once, we found a small piece of what looks like a meteorite in the forest area," says her father, S.P. John, a businessman.

"It was in the evening and I do not remember having seen anything pass by. The meteor must have passed by very fast," feels Sarah. It pays for being at the right place at the right time.
