THE IDEAL Home Exhibition, organised by the Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association, at the Tamukkam Grounds recently proved an entertainer for visitors.
It was helpful to many in clinching new business deals. Above all, an eye-opener for a few. Yes, the Phoenix Parents Association (an initiative floated by parents of persons with mental illness), had put up a stall which provided timely assistance to at least 25 parents of mentally retarded children. The counsellors at the stall created an awareness among the parents of the importance of special education and rehabilitation training for the special children. The members also issued pamphlets on the ways and means of identifying `mental illness' and `retardation'.
