Time to attend a wedding
AFTER "RANGEELA'', Sanjay Chhel has decided to experiment with some more colour. But this time on the small screen. Bringing to television the lighter side of hectic weddings, Sanjay has sought to cash in on one of the country's most lucrative businesses -- weddings.
A serial which promises to be like an extended version of Mira Nair's "Monsoon Wedding'', "Hum Sab Baraati" promises a welcome break from the "saas-bahu'' saga at least. "Hum Sab Baraati is a comedy soap opera which will entertain all age groups and all strata of society who have liked serials like "Hum Log", "Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi" or wholesome films like "Monsoon Wedding", "Bend it like Beckham" or our own "Hum Aapke Hain Koun". It is more than a regular drama serial or just a sitcom. This comic soap promises a grand show of Indian traditions and also a musical journey into an Indian family life,'' he says.
Centred round the most important people at a wedding -- the planners-- the serial takes the viewer through the excitement, colour and chaos of an Indian wedding. Beginning on Zee Television from April 4, the serial will certainly live up to its tag line "Hum To Roz Shaadi Karte Hain". With a new bride and groom each day, it will be time to be part of the "baraat''.
