Miss Country Club

BEAUTY PAGEANTS are not new to Bangalore. Six years ago, we had one which created news for all the wrong reasons. There were protest rallies and talks of misuse of the woman's body. But such things have not dulled the enthusiasm of several organisations to carry on with their pageantry.

The Country Club here organised the "Miss Country Club" event and roped in Bollywood heartthrob, Bipasha Basu, for the final rounds, to the delight of the club crowd. About 20 contestants between the ages of 18 and 23 years walked the ramp in the initial rounds.

Among them were professional models, engineering college students, and corporate executives.

The final event is scheduled for April 17 at the club's new facility in Yelahanka.
