More than blockbusters for Easter, Vishu
The blockbuster on Asianet.
TELEVISION CHANNELS are planning a host of programmes to make Easter and Vishu, both falling in the same week, special events to watch out for.
A newcomer in the Malayalam film industry, Meenakshi, is being introduced to viewers this season by Surya TV. An interview with Meenakshi, who made her debut through `Vellinakshathram', will be telecast on April 9, Good Friday. Another young star being introduced on the same day is Aravind, who came into films through the popular dance number, `Mithuna mazha' in the film, `Nandanam'.
An interview with the dance master, Brinda, who is very popular in the south, is another star attraction on Surya TV on the day.
Easter songs and Passion Week service of the Christian Orthodox church would be the highlights on Asianet on Easter day. Its live music programme, Music Live, anchored by Biju Narayanan, will have a special guest on the day's episode. The young star, Karthika, speaks to viewers in an interview to be telecast by Asianet on Easter day.
Two popular movies, the Mammootty starrer, `Dubai', and the Mohanlal starrer, `Ravanaprabhu', will also be shown on the day by Asianet, which should keep home movie buffs happy. A special edition of `Cine Mala', the popular comedy programme which has telecast over 500 episodes, is something else to look out for.
Kairali's music show, `Symphony', has Vani Jayaram in the spotlight. Watch what Lakshmi Nair is cooking up in the Easter special episode of Magic Oven. `Sing `n Win' show will feature a special guest on the day. `Manassariyaathe', a telefilm, and Easter special programmes are also being shown. The highlight of the day however is `Pranamam', an audio-visual extravaganza held earlier in the city, as a tribute to Mohammed Rafi. The programme was directed by Surya Krishnamoorthy.
Kairali's Vishu programmes begin with a starry touch, with the film star, Suresh Gopi, and his family, coming on the sets of the morning show, `Subhadinam'. The special event of the day will be the award-winning feature film, `Bhavam'. An interview with Jyothirmayee, who played a central role in the film, will also be shown as a prelude to the movie.
`Vishukaineettam', a special get-together of Malayalis held in Delhi on March 14, organised by Kairali channel and the Delhi Malayali Association , will be shown on Vishu day. The programme is said to be the first of its kind in which over 75,000 Malayalis settled in Dehi are said to have taken part.
Asianet's morning show, `Suprabhatham', will feature the star couple, Biju Menon and Samyukta Varma, on Vishu day. The movie, `Malayali Mamanu Vanakkam' goes on air at 9 a.m. At 1-30 p.m. on Vishu day, Asianet is organising a special treat for children, with the hit movie, `My Dear Kuttichathan'.
`Nammal Thammil', the popular talk show, is making a comeback on Asianet after a gap on Vishu day. The Mathrubhumi-Medimix award nite will be telecast in the evening. Special comedy shows and Vishu programmes are also being planned.
Surya TV will have a special programme with clippings from all Vishu releases on the day. Interviews with newcomers in the film industry _ Nayantara, Gopika, who has become popular through the movie, `4 the People, Jayasurya and family, and Vineeth - are some of the main programmes for the day. Surya TV is also planning to telecast three new blockbusters on Vishu.
