`AVM brings family entertainment'
Children cheer as Peralagan's plastic balloon hovers in the background.
WHEN IT COMES to publicising a new film, trust the old production houses for innovation.
At a function to promote its latest venture, AVM, as announced earlier, unveiled a plastic replica of `Peralagan' that features Surya and Jyotika. Launching the publicity at Abhirami mall, actor Kamal Haasan, applauded the efforts of AVM for bringing good entertainment to the audience. "AVM is always a step ahead in film publicity. I started in AVM compound with Kalathur Kannama. Then, K. Balachander noticed me and shaped me into what I am today. I always admire the way AVM makes a film or markets the same."
One of the producers of Peralagan, AVM Saravanan, said the movie was bound to be a big hit, as both Surya and Jothika had given memorable performances, which people of all classes would enjoy.
Surya said he was happy to be among two "greats of the industry... My father Siva Kumar named me `Saravanan,' as he first entered films through "Kakum Karangal," produced by AVM. Later on, I was rechristened Surya for films. And Kamal Haasan... He always fascinates me with his acting ability. I get floored by his performances in each movie. He is my guru as far as film are concerned. So when I got "Peralagan" I literally grabbed the opportunity as it gave great scope to prove my talent." Abrami mall proprietor Ramanathan was around for the launch. Children who gathered around got a chance to shake hands with the plastic Peralagan.
