Magical spell

A girl suspended in mid-air during Jadugar Anand's show in Rajahmundry.

AWE-STRUCK and amazed, the jam-packed audience at Sri Venkateswara Kalakendram in Rajahmundry was under the `magic spell' of Jadugar Anand, in the language of the magician himself, for 9,000 seconds on Friday night.

The non-stop applause at the end of every feat was an indication that the audience had thoroughly enjoyed the show.

There were some feats in which the protagonist on the stage went into a trance, but it was the audience which seemed to be in trance while the feat was being performed.

Rabbits appeared in empty boxes from nowhere. Snake was transformed into a beautiful belle and vice-versa. A teenager vanished from the stage and entered the stage from the middle of the audience.

To the bewilderment of all, another teenager, this time invited from the audience, found suspended in mid-air.

Making an elephant disappear from the stage and cutting the belly of a belle with a saw, which left the audience gasping, were the highlights.

"The applause of audience shoots up my adrenalin," Jadugar Anand said. "I am bewildered.

I am wondering whether I am in a dream world," the Mayor, M.S. Chakravarthy, said.

"I saw magic shows on TV channels, but witnessing it in person was a different experience. It is astounding," a visitor to the show.
