Driving down vintage alley

A car and motorcycle that will be taking part in the vintage car and motorcycle rally on Sunday.

THE KARNATAKA Vintage and Classic Car Club will parade vintage cars and motorcycles in Bangalore on Sunday as part of their annual rally.

These vintage cars and motorcycles have retained their good looks and grace, though long past their prime.

The Club has over 250 members, who together own more than 400 vintage and classic cars and motorcycles.

Formed in 1970, the club has become a platform for vintage car enthusiasts to share their knowledge about preservation. The club's events carry a social message and promote a cause, drawing public attention.

This year, the rally has been organised in aid of the Centre for Research, Education and Training (CREST), a non-governmental organisation that works for the welfare of the girl child.

The rally has been organised in association with Bangalore Central, Taj West End and Titan and will be flagged off from West End. The rally will pass through High Grounds, Cubbon Park, Trinity Circle, Ulsoor Road, Madras Engineers Group, Indiranagar, Airport Road, and Mahatma Gandhi Road to reach Bangalore Central on Residency Road.

Over 75 vintage and classic cars and motorcycles from the 1920s to 1970s are expected to participate in the rally this year. The star attraction of the rally will probably be the 1928 Lanchester Straight 8 model that was originally owned by Motilal Nehru, back on the road after four decades.

Different models of Mercedes, Fiat, Austin, Morris Garages, Jaguar, and Citroen are likely to be seen on the roads this Sunday.
