A hot chase

It's like a scene straight out of a film. The culprit is arrested and brought to the police station, but he gives the cops the slip. He is chased on the main roads and arrested with the support of the passers-by and a traffic constable.

This high drama was witnessed in Karimnagar town on Wednesday afternoon. The Karimnagar One Town police arrested a person, who is reportedly involved in several vehicle-lifting and chain-snatching cases in the district and other places.

The accused diverted the attention of the constables guarding him and jumped over a wall unmindful of the height and the barbed wire fencing. Immediately, the two constables too jumped the wall and chased him. But the accused tried to escape by giving a tough chase and confusing the police. Four other constables took to motorcycles and fanned out in other directions in the police station area.

As people intently watched the chase, the accused neared the RTC bus stand area and tried to board an autorickshaw. Traffic constable, Pasha, who was on duty near the bus stand, noticed something strange and pounced on him. But, the accused resisted him and again took to his heels, but not before a passer-by, Asad, caught him. Some other policemen, too, arrived and took him to the police station.

The SI, A. Mahesh, complimented Asad and Pasha and announced that they would be rewarded suitably.
