IT'S TIME FOR bikers to get funky. TI cycles has launched a new range of Hercules Mountain Terrain Bikes (MTB) with turbo drive. The model is said to deliver greater speed with the same effort of peddling and claims to be faster than any other MTB bikes in the country. "There will be an incremental speed of 30 per cent to 50 per cent with the same effort of peddling," G. Hari, president, TI cycles, told a press conference here on Wednesday.

The company has signed up Cricketer Yuvraj Singh to endorse the brand in the country. "A man admired for his passion, speed and agility on the field, Yuvraj's character is in sync with the power, ruggedness and independence of the bike, which we are trying to project. He is also a role model for millions of kids in this country," said Mr. Hari.

A 30-second advertisement, featuring the cricketer in a triple role, will be on air from tomorrow on all national and regional channels.

In a message, which he sent for the launch, the cricketer said: "As a teenager I loved riding my Hercules MTB. Today as its brand ambassador, I feel proud to be associated with the brand that has stood the test of time and introduced countless innovations in the industry over the years."

According to Mohit Khattar, vice-president (sales and marketing), the company is targeting a growth of 15 to 20 per cent with the latest turbo drive bike by the end of this year.

TI cycles, a unit of Murugappa group's Tube Investments, is a part of the Rs 5,200 crore Murugappa Group, which has a presence in engineering, bio-products, sanitary ware, plantations, sugar, farm inputs, finance, general insurance and nutraceuticals. It has operations across 12 states in the country.
