Here's something 'new'

Director-actor S.J. Surya and simran in 'New'.

THE SCRIPT writing for the film began three years ago. Production began two years ago and now the film `New' has been completed. The film is to be released this month.

Following his earlier successes in `Vaali' and `Kushi,' director S.J. Surya is a confident man. `New' has a plot that is on the lines of the Tom Hanks starrer `Big.' "In my first directorial venture Vaali, the heroine was Simran and now in my debut as an actor she plays the lead lady. Kiran has a powerful role and Devayani plays my mother" (a wonderful performance, he notes). Manivannan, Nasser, Karuna, Madan Bop and `Gilli' Brammanandham are all part of the cast. K.V. Guhan has handled the camera. Surya has done the story, screenplay, dialogue and direction.
