First day, first show

The doe-eyed actress will preside over the lamp lighting ceremony at 11.30 a.m. at the Metroplus Lifestyle Show today.

YOU HAVE known her in a variety of roles, including her stunning performance as the docile, slightly shy, tradition-bound housewife who decided to make a stand and get herself a life in "Mitr." Now here's your chance to meet the real Shobana, national award winning actress and danseuse.

The doe-eyed actress will preside over the lamp lighting ceremony at 11.30 a.m. at the Metroplus Lifestyle Show on Thursday. Known as an actress with a taste for sophisticated cinema, Shobana is also an artiste committed to the propagation of classical arts. Her dance school, Kalarpana, founded in 1994, organises yearly festivals throughout the country and raises funds to train talented young artistes.

The four-day lifestyle extravaganza (August 12 to 15) opens at 10 a.m. at the Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam today. Going the extra mile to give you the best of lifestyle products, the show will bring together readers and advertisers.

More than 175 participants will be putting up stalls, showcasing products ranging from electric tandoors to Ford automobiles. There are a host of events to look forward to over the four days — from a unique photo exhibition to a brilliant display of fireworks by Sri Kaliswari Fireworks to DJs playing the best of tunes every evening. It's the place for readers and advertisers to hang out and connect.

See you there!
