Talent hunt for the film world
You too can become an actor.
FINDING NEW talent is a laborious process for filmmakers, while finding a break in the film world is equally frustrating for those with big dreams.
But here is an opportunity for youngsters to display their talent, win prizes and work in Tamil movies.
Sathya Jothi films, which has produced 14 movies, has planned to find new faces through a talent contest. The man who heads the production house, G. Thyagarajan, says the industry needs new faces.
"Production costs and artiste remuneration have gone up. One needs to see to it that the pay packet of artistes comes down. The only solution is to introduce new talent. After a study we came up with a concept to select new faces."
The idea is to capture the talent of youngsters on camera and screen them on satellite television. Vision Pro Event management and Hero Honda Motors will jointly organise the talent hunt Nalaya Natchatiram in Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem and Chennai. Four young men and women selected from each town will vie for a prize at a grand finale in Chennai.
The judges in the preliminary stage would be directors Pavitran, S.S. Stanely, Santhana Bharathi, C. Ranganathan, S.P. Raj Kumar, Nandakumar, Sasimohan and `Pasi' Durai.
K. Balachander, Mani Ratnam, Balumahendra and S.A. Chandrasekaran will judge the finals.
